Let’s face it, Instagram’s hub on the Web has traditionally kind of sucked. Thankfully, that’s finally starting to change. Recently, Instagram introduced a much easier-on-the-eyes design and started storing high-res images, and today it’s finally allowing you to search for images.

You can now look up anything from hashtags, locations and usernames right from the desktop. Tags and locations are getting their own pages too, so you can see the most popular related images.
The update is rolling out to everyone today. While it’s weird that it even took so long for the relatively basic functionality to be available on the Web – Instagram describes the desktop browser version as complimentary to the mobile apps – it’s a welcome change that should make it easier to view and share photos when your phone isn’t nearby.
